SENIOR SERVICES

The Senior Service Program offers seniors ages 55 and over outreach, case management personal assistance, medical transportation, social and physical activities. Lunch is provided daily within an atmosphere to promote social interaction. This program is available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Senior Access Transportation Frail & Elderly

There are three components to the Wesley Dayton Transportation

Nutrition Transportation for Seniors: This program provides service to persons who are 60 years of age and older. It provides transportation from the residence to nutrition meal sites throughout Montgomery County. Presently, transportation is provided to the following sites Wesley, the Greater Dayton Recreation Center (Roosevelt), and the Dakota Center. By providing this service, Wesley Community Center ensures the continuation of necessary transportation for many elderly persons to receive a hot meal with socialization. It is an extension of Wesley’s goal of nurturing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the elderly. This program is funded by Montgomery County and United Way. Senior Citizens needing a ride to a congregate meal site should call the Transportation Office at 937-263-3556 x 224, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:30a.m. – 12:30p.m. Rides can be set up by coming into the Wesley Center and signing up for the nutrition program, and then you will be directed to the transportation office to sign up for pick-up.

Medical/Personal Transportation: This program started October 2004 at the Wesley Community Center. The Medical Program is a fulfilled vision for Wesley. This service provided transportation to all seniors throughout Montgomery County, who have scheduled medical appointments and the personal assistance program was started January 2006 for those who need to go shopping, have hair appointments etc.., etc. Seniors need to call the transportation department at 937-263-3556 x224 to get scheduled for pick-up.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

The Baby Ready/Infant Mortality is a program for excepting mothers and families with a child under one. All families must reside in Montgomery County.

The B.R.I.M staff will enroll interested families into the program with an introduction to the program along with the initial paperwork. WDSN, CCMEP, and WEP case managers may enroll clients in the program.

Baby Ready/Infant Mortality families will receive the following services:

  • Home Visitor Services / Case Management

  • Doula Services

  • Referral to adequate healthcare

  • Referral to childcare services

  • Healthy Nutrition cooking classes

  • Child birthing classes

  • Baby Items

  • Support group

  • Employment Training and Placement

  • Education Assist

  • Community events - Baby shower, Community Resource Fair, and more.

EDUCATION

Our After School Program is offered throughout the academic school year, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

We focus on academic enrichment. Each day, children in grades K-8 are engaged in science, math, music, arts, and college readiness activities. Homework completion is one component focusing on enrichment to engage active learning and nurture creative thinking. Impact is measured through grade tracking pre/post-test in reading and math. A participation fee and parent participation are a component of our program.

Wesley Dayton Summer Camp is offered to children in K-8, Monday thru Friday.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Our Family Success Network Program is offered Monday through Friday. Our strategic techniques assist clients in obtaining meaningful, permanent, and self-sufficient employment utilizing a well-defined employability assessment, work experience opportunities in a variety of job skills and direct connections to work. Assistance with barrier removal to become self-sufficient.  

The outcomes of our programs ensure customers learn to utilize a well-defined employability assessment. This includes job readiness skills, resume preparation, online job search, online applications and direct connection to employers seeking specific skill sets and backgrounds.

Participants can enroll in GED preparation classes provided by Miami Valley Career Technology Center. We offer training in Construction, Customer Service/Call Center, Medical (HHA, CNA, STNA), Culinary Arts/Hospitality, Socio-Economic Enterprise/ Entrepreneurship and Safety, Hazardous, First Aid/CPR/AED, and Serve Safe Certifications.

We will continue to build and provide valuable training to take our customers to the next level by preparing them for success in personal and professional growth leading to self-sufficiency.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION CENTER

Food justice is an important part of community justice. We take donations from local businesses and use them to fight hunger. Help us connect with donors and with people in need.

The Food Distribution Center provides those in need with five days every month for as long as they need it until they become financially stable. The Food Distribution Center hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Emergency assistance is available during business hours.
